A name, place, or other entry submitted through a search box is transmitted to the outside company that supplies that tool. The provider processes the query and delivers its own results. Carter County Criminal History does not retain or create a separate log of the terms entered in those partner forms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be kept for as long as needed to review and answer it. We do not disclose that correspondence outside the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.

Carter County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of individual criminal records. Its published content points to the sheriff, city police, detention center, courts, Kentucky State Police, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. Kentucky's criminal-history dissemination framework appears in KRS 17.140 and 17.151; official repository records remain with the authorized state custodian. Visitor information is not turned into a consumer report or personal dossier, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Independent companies provide the search tools that appear on some pages. Information submitted within a partner tool is governed by that company's privacy terms and retention rules.
